The curbside collection for Blue Cart, Green Cart, and garbage will resume, despite the ongoing COVID pandemic. For sorting and wrapping waste, we highly recommend that you put all organic materials and trash inside a bag. United bags are not eligible for collection, so make sure to tie the bag.

If necessary, before bulk waste collection takes place, wrap all mattresses and box springs in plastic.

Knowing the basics of waste sorting is extremely important. Trash to put in the Green Cart must consist of edible leftovers, such as pieces of bread, dairy products, eggs, fish, fruits, meat, and vegetables.

Other acceptable items to put in the Green Cart are paper food containers, egg cartons, and paper towels.

The acceptable items to place in the Blue Cart are objects made of glass, metal, and plastic, as well as boxed beverage containers. Styrofoam, however, should not be placed in this container.

You can put the rest of the trash inside a bin bag. These objects may include styrofoam, bubble wrap, food wrap, household items, light bulbs, plastic straws and cutlery, stir sticks, food crates made of wood, diapers, sanitary products, cigarette butts, and pet waste.

Once you’ve sorted out all the trash, you may drop them off at the Halton Waste Management Site (HWMS) during standard business hours.
